Apple says new China tariffs will make Apple Watch, AirPods costlier

Trump calls on Apple to move production from China to US

Apple's letter says, "Our concern with these tariffs is that the USA will be hardest hit, and that will result in lower U.S. growth and competitiveness and higher prices for United States consumers".

Ford spokesman Michael Levine said the Focus Active is built in Europe.

The tweet followed a letter Apple sent to the Trump administration saying that the proposed $200 billion tariffs on Chinese-made products would result in many Apple products getting hit by the 25 percent increase in import tax.

Trump's comment came after Apple told USA trade officials on Friday that proposed tariffs by Washington in an escalating trade war with China would affect prices for a "wide range" of Apple items, including the Apple Watch.

Apple has indicated Apple Watch, AirPods could see prices rise in the U.S., thanks to Donald Trump's proposed tax for products from China.

"Ford has abruptly killed a plan to sell a Chinese-made small vehicle in the USA because of the prospect of higher US tariffs.' CNBC".

For now, that means Ford simply won't sell the vehicle in the United States.

"This auto can now be BUILT IN THE U.S.A. and Ford will pay no tariffs!", he said in a tweet posted Sunday. While Ford might choose not to build the Focus in China, it does have a multiple number of plants in other countries it can choose to build the small hatchback in. "Exciting!" Trump said in the tweet.

Neither Apple nor the White House immediately responded to requests for comment. The Trump administration is poised to decide whether to extend that to another $200 billion of Chinese goods.

In addition, the chip industry is a source of trade surplus for the United States, including with China, Intel argued. Last month, it added tariffs to another $16bn in Chinese goods and is readying taxes on another $200bn.

"Our concern with these tariffs is that the USA will be hardest hit, and that will result in lower U.S. growth and competitiveness and higher prices for United States consumers", Apple said in its letter.
