Mauricio Pochettino backs Tottenham to improve despite lack of signings

Pochettino unfazed by Spurs quiet transfer window

Chairman Daniel Levy has proved his point by refusing to sell to Belgian to another Premier League side, but Spurs still have the option to sell him overseas.

The Argentine added: "We have a very good squad, we have very good players and it is not easy to add players that improve that".

However, the Spurs boss could see his squad stretched this weekend as an update on TottenhamHotspur.com confirmed the north Londoners will be without at least six players for the trip to the north east to face Newcastle.

"It's true our targets are always the same level as Manchester United, Manchester City or Real Madrid but for different circumstances we can't achieve that".

"Our decision was not to sign, [even though] it is the fashion to sign or because we are the only club in Europe that has not signed players".

"I am not anxious, I am not sad, I am so happy".

Mauricio Pochettino has "no doubt" his Tottenham team will be stronger this season, even if the club fail to make a single signing in the summer transfer window. What the club is doing, is showing, it is so fearless.

'I am happy to keep all the squad together, there were many rumours during the summer about players out, ' he said.

"Of course we didn't sell players and with 25 players in the squad it's hard to add".

But Pochettino has warned that he will demand full commitment from anyone who is still at the club after the continental window closes.

"I am with full energy, I am fitter than last season because I was thinking if a player involved in the World Cup arrives not fit then I have a possibility to play", the former Argentina worldwide defender said at the club's training ground.

"The most important thing is we're so positive and of course we're going to challenge for big things this season too".
