Jose Mourinho confirms several absentees for Leicester City opener

Jose Mourinho

Obviously taking a leaf from their "noisy neighbours" book, Manchester United have revealed their brand-spanking new dressing room right before they kick-off tonight's Premier League opener at Old Trafford against Leicester City.

"Is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second - which I keep saying, and it is sometimes hard to believe, that I won eight championships and three Premier League's but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game".

The Reds were one of the most exciting teams to watch in world football last season, thrilling fans with their own unique brand of expansive, high-octane football. As it stands, Alderweireld and Maguire are considered too expensive, while Bayern Munich have knocked back a loan move for Boateng.

In fact, as many as nine Premier League teams broke their club record this summer despite Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs not breaking theirs this summer.

"We have only seen him when he has appeared in front of the TV cameras this summer and heard what he has told the media, and I suspect he will behave very differently on the training ground with his players".

"They returned on Monday", he said.

"They returned on Monday, trained Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today so you can imagine they are not really fit and ready but we have needs", Mourinho said.

Sticking with the narrative that his squad depth was not enough given the number of players who needed a post-World Cup vacation, Mourinho applauded his short-handed Red Devils.

"When I listen, when I read - not much but sometimes I do - it is hard to believe that we finished second because you [the media] are capable of making people who finished second look like they were relegated and capable of making people who win nothing and finish below us look like serial winners".

"My view is that it is hard for me to believe that we finished second", he said.

'It is hard for me to understand we finish second which I keep saying, that I won eight championships and three Premier Leagues but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game'.

"I said we would sign one or two, but the second one wasn't possible".
