Independence Day releases ‘Gold’, ‘Satyameva Jayate’ storm the box office

Box Office Worldwide collections and day wise break up of Gold

"#SatyamevaJayate saw a big dip on Day 2". Satyameva Jayate, having a strong hold on single screen theatres, earned Rs 8 crore on Friday, taking its 3-days total to around Rs 35 crore. Now the actor's Gold, which took a roaring start of Rs. 25.25 crore on its opening day did see an expected dip on Thursday and Friday (due to these being working days).

On the other side, John Abraham's film also had made an excellent business of Rs 20.52 crore on first day, followed by a sharp decline on the next day, earning just Rs 7.92 crore. While it is a given that the film would go past the 10 crore mark today, what has to be seen is whether the numbers are in the upwards of 12 crore.

After witnessing a dip on Thursday, John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Satyameva Jayate witnessed a good jump yesterday at the box office.

"The big Independence Day holiday results in big numbers at the box office", tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. While Kumar's sports biopic has collected about Rs 26 crore at the domestic box office with 3,050 screens, Abraham's action drama has managed Rs 16-17 crore with 2,500 screens, according to trade website Box Office India.

"True to their titles both Gold and Satyameva Jayate have emerge victorious at the box-office". Expectations are that the film will cross 100 crores mark in its opening weekend and there will be no surprise if the film also becomes Akshay Kumar's highest grossing film beating Rowdy Rathore.

If both films go on an overdrive today and tomorrow, expect quite a few new records to be written before the weekdays kick-start.

Akshay Kumar's Independence Day release this year, Gold, is setting the box office on fire.
