Finau ties PGA Championship record with 10 birdies

Tiger Woods was joined by Rory Mc Ilroy and Justin Thomas for the first round

"The golf course is good", said Woodland, a three-time PGA Tour victor who has never finished among the top 10 in a major championship.

His scorecard showed 10 birdies, a triple bogey, three bogeys and four pars at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis.

It's the 34th and 35th time a player has shot 63 in a major championship and the first since Tommy Fleetwood did it in the final round of this year's U.S. Open at Shinnecock.

McIlroy's birdie on the par-five eighth was his first since his fourth hole on Thursday and he also chipped in on the 14th after flying the green with his approach.

Woods answered his bogey with an 11-foot birdie putt at the par-3 sixth and a seven-footer for birdie at the seventh, the crowds and buzz around him growing with every hole.

Best of all was making the cut on the number at even-par 140, the lowest score to make a cut in the 60 years of stroke play at the PGA Championship. It also tied the 36-hole record for all majors, matching Jordan Spieth at the 2015 Masters, Martin Kaymer at the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst No 2 and Brandt Snedeker (Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2012) and Nick Faldo (Muirfield in 1992) at the British Open. "It's very warm out here so I definitely need a change of clothes and a shower and a freshen up, then I'll come back out and get ready to go".

TV: 8 a.m.to 2 p.m. ET on TNT and 2 p.m.to 7 p.m. on CBS.

Two hours after play was stopped it was announced that the second round would be resumed Saturday, starting at 7 a.m., with the third round starting after completion of the second. "Get in the fairway, the greens are still soft enough that you can still attack".

Bellerive is getting battered with low numbers, as the 36-hole cut record of 141 is in danger.

The 14-time major victor was three under for his round to that point and carried on where he left off on Saturday morning, pitching to five feet and holing the birdie putt.

Fowler had made a strong charge up the leaderboard on Friday before play was suspended and a birdie at the short par four 11th saw him move within four shots of Woodland's lead. "The key is to get the ball in the fairway and attack from there".

Despite the record showing, he leads Kevin Kisner (9-under-par) by just one stroke. Simply go to the CBS All Access landing page and pick the plan you want to purchase.

"I don't really feel from memory that I was ever really in contention on a Sunday at the PGA, although I've had some good results", Scott said. The golf course is gettable and I'm holing a few putts.

"I'm hitting the ball very solid".
