Brad Pitt: I've given Angelina Jolie $9m since split

Angelina Jolie tours Mosul in video released by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

U.S. actor Brad Pitt has rebutted claims made by his estranged wife Angelina Jolie that he has failed to support their children.

Mr Pitt's attorneys said in the two-page document filed in Los Angeles Superior Court that he "adamantly disputes the contention that he has not paid significant child support".

Pitt's attorney also calls Jolie's filing a "thinly-veiled effort to manipulate media coverage".

"As of present, [he] has paid no meaningful child support since separation", her lawyer said in the filing on Tuesday.

Spiegel also said that Pitt "loaned" Jolie US$8 million to help her purchase her current home and has spent more than US$1.3 million "in bills for the benefit of [Jolie] and the minor children".

Jolie's attorney responded by saying that Pitt was charging Jolie interest on the loan for the new house and that the actress has had to shoulder most of the expenses for the children alone.

In June, US Weekly reported that Jolie and Pitt had reached a new temporary custody agreement, which laid out all of the dates during the [northern hemisphere] summer that the actor would have custody of Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, Vivienne, 10 and Knox, 10.

Custody issues have proved to be the biggest stumbling block in legally ending the Jolie-Pitt marriage.

"Given the informal arrangements around the payment of the children's expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file [a request for a court order] for the establishment of a retroactive child support order".

A source went on to claim to UsWeekly that Jolie, who is now filming Maleficent 2 in London, had been forced to return to work making movies in order to cover the costs associated with raising her children.

Things are heating up in Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's child support case.

The Hollywood power couple had been together for 12 years and married for two when she filed for divorce in 2016.

DeJean goes on to state that Jolie would like the court to have Pitt pay her the money she is owed.

Another source added: 'Brad has completely lived up to his commitments as far as child support and will continue to do so'.

The incident was reported and Pitt was investigated by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, but was later cleared of wrongdoing.
