Trump names Supreme Court nominee

Yes Another Liberal SCOTUS Meltdown Is Coming...And It Could Be One For The Record Books

President Donald Trump announced his selection to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by outgoing Justice Anthony Kennedy Monday as conservative Washington D.C. insider Brett Kavanaugh.

Judge Kavanaugh, who once clerked for Justice Kennedy, the man Trump tapped him to replace, has sat on the D.C. Circuit, which plays a pivotal role in the litigation affecting the workings of the federal government, for more than 12 years. At 53, Kavanaugh, if confirmed, could reasonably expect to serve on the Supreme Court well into the middle of the century - no doubt an attractive prospect to President Trump, who intentionally targeted young candidates for the posting, sources told ABC News. Judge Kavanaugh, a nominee of President George W. Bush, has penned notable rulings on a host of topics, including environmental regulations, guns, the Affordable Care Act and abortion.

Given the narrow Republican majority in the Senate, Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation is likely to set off a major political battle. The president of the Supreme Court Malgorzata Gersdorf, who is 65, has refused to resign, declaring: "I'm doing this to defend the rule of law and to testify to the truth about the line between the Constitution and the violation of the Constitution".

Hannity called the nomination the second most important call a president can make besides going to war. CNN reported no Democrat lawmakers were in the East Room when Trump made his announcement.

But McConnell said Monday that senators should give Kavanaugh "the fairness, respect, and seriousness that a Supreme Court nomination ought to command".

Thus when Judge Kavanaugh becomes Justice Kavanaugh, there finally will be a reliable fifth vote to join the other four originalists. "I am hopeful that Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation process will be fair and timely".

Assuming Kavanaugh's candidacy receives support in the Senate Judiciary Committee, he would need a simple majority of Senate votes to be placed on the high court.

He previously worked for Kenneth Starr, the independent counsel who investigated Democratic former President Bill Clinton in the 1990s. It is imperative that judges adhere to the Constitution and resist judicial activism.

Anchoring this conservative bloc is Thomas, less a jurist than a rigid and embittered ideologue who seems to carry a personal grudge against progressive causes; and Alito, a small-minded jurist whose opinions show more concern with the social ostracism endured by conservatives than with hatred directed against gay couples. Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Doug Jones of Alabama, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Dianne Feinstein of California.

Republicans hold 51 seats in the Senate, though Arizona Sen. This nominee was hand-picked by anti-LGBTQ, anti-choice groups in an explicit effort to undermine equality - and the prospect of a Justice Kavanaugh threatens to erode our nation's civil rights laws, block transgender troops from bravely serving this nation and allow a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people in every aspect of American life.

Casey says he is "pro-life", but regularly sides with supporters of abortion rights in Senate votes.

"My introduction to the law came at our dinner table when she practiced her closing arguments", Kavanaugh said. Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, to oppose any nominee who threatens Roe v. Wade.
