Section 144 to be imposed at Lahore airport before Sharif's arrival

On July 6, an accountability court sentenced former premier Nawaz Sharif to ten years in prison while Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to seven years.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also announced that it will arrest the two on their arrival in Lahore on Friday.

On Friday, July 6th, Supreme Court sentenced Nawaz Sharif for 10 years, Maryam Nawaz for 7 and Captain Sardar for 1 year respectively.

All three family members, according to sources, have given their power of attorney to Khawaja Haris - Nawaz's counsel during the over-nine-month trial in the accountability court - who will file the appeals today.

"Let me make it clear that the law enforcement agencies will arrest Nawaz and Maryam at the airport to implement the court's order", he said.

She said, "People fly out of the country to evade punishment but we are returning to face it."Nawaz Sharif has set a new benchmark by offering his arrest", she said emphasising that their sacrifices will not go in vain as they will benefit the future generations". Maryam was given 7 years imprisonment for abetment after she was found "instrumental in concealment of the properties of her father" and one year for non-cooperation with NAB.
