Samsung phones are sending photos to random contacts without permission

This could be bad

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Samsung for further comment. Smartphones by the company are favorite among people across the globe. Samsung is encouraging all users to do so. The issue has been reported on the Galaxy S9, S9 Plus, and the Note 8.

The problem is stemming from the Samsung Messages app, which is the default SMS app on the devices which are affected. One user posted on Reddit saying that his entire Photo Album on is Galaxy S9 Plus was shared with a contact.

Samsung Australia also confirmed they were investigating the reports.

His phone showed no record of the photo gallery being transferred to his partner's number, though his provider recorded the action. The sender is not even notified about what has happened. The only way people know this is happening, is once they receive a response from the recipient of the message sent.

Samsung has confirmed that it is aware of the reports, and a spokesperson said in a statement that the company is looking into whether there's root cause.

Another Reddit user summed things up quite nicely: "Give me a spontaneously exploding phone any day of the week, Samsung, instead of this nightmare scenario". At present, the bug is not linked to any one device.

'However, there was record of it on TMobile logs. They have recently issued its RCS update with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Rich Communication messaging enhances the features in the regular messenger app and allows users to share different types of media over the Samsung Messenger app.

"Samsung has reviewed this matter thoroughly these past few days; however, there were no hardware or software issues found to be relevant to this particular case", a Samsung spokeswoman said.

Samsung users can tackle this bug until Samsung fixes it permanently.

KitGuru Says: This is an terrible bug to have in your Messaging app, I think it's a nightmare scenario for many people just to have their images dumped to a random contact.

For those anxious about the Samsung Messages glitch, AppleInsider recommends disabling the app's storage access permissions.
