Sacha Baron Cohen Tricks Politicians in New Showtime Series

Sacha Baron Cohen and Showtime are pushing back against Sarah Palin's claims that she was

Cohen's show Who is America? debuted on Sunday night, and featured the comedian doing what he does best: donning disguises to trick politicians and other public figures into saying stupid shit, including endorsing the arming of toddlers.

Baron Cohen previously responded in character to Palin's claims on Twitter last week, posting a letter explaining that, while Ruddick was in the "service", he meant "United Parcel".

California congressman Dana Rohrabacher was one of two Republican politicians filmed for an episode of "Who is America?", a series for cable's Showtime in which the British prankster assumes personas to satirize US political and cultural life in the era of President Donald Trump.

The broadcaster behind Who Is America?, Sacha Baron Cohen's new TV show, has said the claim that the comedian made fun of disabled war veterans is erroneous and that Sarah Palin's account of being filmed for the show is inaccurate.

"There has been widespread misinformation over the past week about the character of Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr., Ph.D., performed by Sacha Baron Cohen", Showtime said of the star of its new comedy series Who is America?

Showtime's statement comes as Cohen himself got played today by conservative street artist Sabo, who took over a billboard and a bus stop sign near CBS Studios in Los Angeles.

Palin last week on Facebook complained that Baron Cohen "heavily disguised himself" as a disabled U.S. veteran in a wheelchair when she was "duped" into an interview.

Sacha Baron Cohen has duped and angered a handful of notable politicians, like Sarah Palin and Joe Walsh, for his new Showtime series "Who Is America?" that premiered on Sunday.

The segment is led by one of Cohen's new characters for the series, a fake Israeli "anti-terror expert" called Col. Erran Morad, who introduces a fake program, "Kinderguardians", which would arm children as young as three.

Teasers for the new series saw US former vice president Dick Cheney signing a "waterboard kit" and Sarah Palin unleash a furious Facebook attack, upset to have been one of Cohen's pranked subjects. In a conversation with Sanders, Ruddick attempted to convince the senator that the 99 per cent should simply be added to the 1 per cent in order to solve income inequality.

Showtime said in a statement that Cohen "did not present himself as a disabled veteran" or wear any military apparel when he met with Ms Palin.
