Royal Family steps out for Prince Louis' christening

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip leave St. George's Chapel after the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle on May 19

Britain's Prince Louis of Cambridge, the baby son of Prince William and his wife Kate, is to be christened on Monday but Queen Elizabeth II will not be in attendance, Kensington Palace said.

Prince Louis will be christened later in a private ceremony in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace later today.

The Duchess of Cambridge carries Prince Louis as they arrive for his christening service at St James's Palace on July 9, 2018 in London, England.

It marks a rare public appearance for Kate during her six months maternity leave, who has only been pictured on official royal business three times since giving birth to her third child.

Louis' godparents are a mix of close friends and family members: Nicholas van Cutsem, Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, The Lady Laura Meade and Robert Carter are all friends of the Duke and Duchess' and and Lucy Middleton is Kate's cousin. That gown was worn for all Royal Christenings, including The Queen, her children, and seven of her eight grandchildren.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte have stolen the show at their brother's christening, playing up to the waiting media outside The Chapel Royal.

As the christening of Prince Louis is today, royal fans have been taking a look back at his mother, Kate Middleton's christening photos.

Three-year-old Charlotte grabbed the headlines when she walked hand-in-hand with her dad past all the press that were waiting outside the chapel.

They are all friends or family of the Cambridges, who also picked friends and confidantes as Prince George's and Princess Charlotte's godparents.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will not be on hand for the event.

Princess Charlotte had a sassy message for photographers as she left her brother's christening on Monday: "You're not coming". Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton wore a white structured Alexander McQueen dress with a Jane Taylor headpiece.

What did Prince George wear?

The confident young princess warned photographers they can't come to Prince Louis christening.

William and Harry wore matching blue suits.
