Is there pressure on Luke Walton coaching LeBron James?

Why did Lakers tickets jump so much after LeBron James joined the team?

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is heading to the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reported on Sunday.

While his wife and children were out of town for an AAU tournament, James was at his OH mansion pondering his next career move and how to top the champion Golden State Warriors, Jenkins writes. He reportedly met with the Philadelphia 76ers in Los Angeles, too. He also won a championship in Cleveland.

Some Lakers fans gathered outside Staples Center Sunday night to bring LeBron's signature pre-game ritual out of retirement and do a group "chalk toss".

LeBron, 33, had been linked with a move to the Lakers in recent months as it became clear his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers could not realistically compete with the Golden State Warriors.

James' second exit from the Cavaliers was far more civilised than his first, when jerseys were burned and owner Dan Gilbert penned an acrimonious letter. After one year with the Thunder, George liked the organization enough to re-sign there on a four-year deal instead of joining the Lakers. Now, after returning to Cleveland, winning a title and getting back in the good graces of all his OH homefolk who considered him a traitor when he left before, he'll thaw in one of the warmest spots in the Western Division.

That made things tough for an organization that wanted to continue to make moves to improve the team all while saving themselves in case you did in fact decide to leave again. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with Los Angeles, according to our own Shams Charania.

He'll never be able to match Jordan's ideal six wins and six Finals MVPs in six tries, but a couple more titles and his record for franchise-building and his sustained statistical excellence will be hard to dismiss.

That year, his iconic block on Andre Iguodala was one of the defining moments of the Cavs' Game 7 win over the Warriors.

Another factor pundits considered behind James' move west was the opportunity to link up with a young roster, including 2017's number-two draft pick Lonzo Ball and Germany's Isaac Bonga, which could ensure he wouldn't have to carry the team like he did in Cleveland. He thanked Cavaliers fans in an Instagram post, saying the city will always be his home.

He rejoined the Cavs in 2014, winning another championship in 2016.
