Heat warning issued for Leeds-Grenville

Extreme heat warnings have been issued across southwestern Ontario

The Ministry of environmental protection of Canada stated that in this regard, the temperature of the air in the world will rise to 30 - 35 starting Friday, June 29.

According to the heat warning for North Bay and area, issued at 3:36 p.m. on Thursday, June 28 and updated at 10:02 a.m. on Monday, July 2, a heat event continues through mid week.

As surprising as it sounds, no temperature records were broken over the long weekend in Southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada is saying residents of southern Ontario will see some overnight relief from the heat, but daytime temperatures are expected to remain steamy. "You can maybe turn off your air conditioner and enjoy a few days before the heat builds back up next week".

The forecast calls for a high of 36C in Ottawa on Sunday.

Humidex values reaching 43 are expected.

Thursday's outlook is mixed skies and a high of 34 C. There's a 60 per cent chance of overnight showers and a low of 22 C.

Extreme heat affects everyone, Environment Canada said. "The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors", Environment Canada states.

Temperatures on Saturday and into next week are expected to be in the mid-30s and, with the humidity, it will feel like the mid-40s.

To prevent heat stress during a heat alert, Dr. Strang suggests to stay in a shaded, cool or air-conditioned area, drink plenty of water, wear light-coloured clothing and to not leave anyone or any animal unattended in vehicles.

There are many warning signs for heat illness, including swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
