The recall affected Del Monte six and 12-ounce vegetable trays containing broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and dill dip that were distributed to Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Still, products distributed to each of the four states, as well as IL and IN, have been recalled.

Health officials say it can take up to a week to develop symptoms, which can include diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, cramping, bloating, increased gas, fatigue and low-grade fever.

Cyclosporiasis is caused by Cyclospora cayetanensis, a single-celled protozoa most commonly transmitted on produce contaminated with human fecal matter, particularly from tropical or subtropical regions where the parasite is native.

It is unknown which product in the vegetable tray was the cause for the illness.

A previous major cyclosporiasis outbreak was reported in 2015, when 546 individuals were infected across 31 states.

'Therefore, it is unlikely that cyclosporiasis is passed directly from one person to another'. Additionally, Del Monte is recalling "small veggie trays", which are 28oz and include broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery and dill dip that were distributed to IL and Indiana.

Although the illness can be treated with antibiotics, symptoms can last from a few days to a few months.

The CDC added that the products were sold in clear, plastic containers at several store across the Midwest.

The trays were sold at Kwik Trip, FoodMax, Country Market, Meehan's, Potash, Demond and Kwik Star.

FDA has not identified which of the ingredients is the vehicle for this outbreak; each component of these vegetable trays is under consideration.

The investigation is ongoing and the CDC will provide updates when more information is available.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled items should not consume them and throw them away immediately.
