World Cup 2018 opening ceremony performers, start time and how to watch

FIFA Announce Major Overhaul of World Ranking System to Make Standings 'Fair & Logical'

Tournament matches will take place at 11 venues across the country, taking teams as far east as Ekaterinburg and as far south as Sochi.

Morocco are sweating to have winger Nabil Dirar fit to start in their opening match of the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

The event, kicking off June 14, will take place in various cities across Russian Federation, from Moscow to St. Petersburg to Sochi.

Federation Internationale de Football Association says the opening ceremony will take place much closer to kick-off than usual, just 30 minutes before the start of the opening match.

"Robbie Williams and Aida Garifullina are extremely popular artists, and they will undoubtedly entertain and warm up the crowd before the hosts take to the pitch to play Saudi Arabia on June 14".

Federation Internationale de Football Association did not comment on whether the song would form part of Williams' performance, saying the set list would be kept as a "surprise".

Williams said he was "happy and excited" about the "unique performance" in front of 80,000 fans and many millions all over the world and that it was a boyhood dream.

Williams will be joined by Russian soprano Aida Garifullina, and - presumably not on vocals - former Brazilian worldwide Ronaldo, who was in the winning team in 1994 and 2002, The Guardian reported.

After a 20-year absence at the global showpiece, Morocco will make an appearance in the 2018 World Cup and the odds are against them since they have been placed in a group with tough teams, Spain and Portugal.
