'Wonder Woman 1984' shares first look at Kristen Wiig's Cheetah
We've gotten multiple leaked set videos showing Wonder Woman's incredible speed, a tease of what we think is the Invisible Jet, and even Chris Pine just dancing with some fans.
Director Patty Jenkins posted the image of Wiig as Barbara on her personal Twitter account.
Director Patty Jenkins, who made EVERYTHING work like gangbusters in the first film, posted a photo of the Saturday Night Live alum as her most risky character since Gilly. While her character looks meek and unassuming in the wide shot - which pictures a Wiig as a curly-haired, simply dressed civilian - surrounding statues of lions, giraffes, and antelope foreshadow her predatory tendencies. Gal Gadot's look as Wonder Woman has already been released for the film that is set during the 1980s. At least she does before she transforms into one of Wonder Woman's greatest foes.
The picture shows Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva in what appears to be National History Museum. She takes over the mantle, but with side effects, including a certain murderous mania that won't sit well with Diana Prince. Well, social media has spotted Gal Gadot and Chris Pine (returning as a possibly resurrected Steve Trevor!) filming at D.C.'s Hirshhorn Museum, a modern arts museum.
Director Patty Jenkins has been blessing us with sneak peeks at the upcoming "Wonder Woman 1984", which doesn't actually hit theaters until November 2019. In every incarnation of the character, Barbara has some connection to artifacts - usually as an archeologist - and while the photo doesn't give any clues to how Wonder Woman 1984 will approach the character or here eventual transformation into Cheetah, earlier this month it was reported that she will start out as Diana's friend before becoming her foe.
Jenkins announced in March that Wiig was joining the cast, tweeting, "So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes!"
