Wilder, Joshua agree to fight deal

Deontay Wilder has insisted that a September showdown with Anthony Joshua in Britain could be salvaged.

"We have agreed to the terms that Eddie has put out to us for a fight in the U.K. Deontay has accepted his terms to fight in the U.K.", Finkel told ESPN.com.

Wilder had previously attempted to lure Joshua to fight in the U.S. with a $50m offer, but Joshua and Hearn have been firm in their stance that the match-up should happen in Britain.

The report said the offer set out a two-fight deal with a rematch to take place in the United States next year.

WBC champion Wilder took to social media on Monday night to announce to fans that he had agreed to travel to the United Kingdom to challenge WBA (Super), WBO and IBF title-holder Joshua to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Briton Joshua (21-0) is the holder of the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO titles while Wilder (40-0) is the WBC world champion.

A fight between Wilder and Joshua has always been mooted, but it appeared that Olympic gold medallist Joshua would return in the autumn -- September 29 at Wembley Stadium in London had been mentioned -- potentially against WBA mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin of Russian Federation. "It's up to them to choose".

"Deontay has accepted his terms to fight in the UK". We want the fight next, we're waiting for the contract and we're ready to go'.

The fight, pairing unbeaten sluggers at the peak of their physical primes, would be one of the biggest the sport could make and the most important the division has seen in 15 years.

Joshua was last seen in action back in March, when he unified his four titles with a twelve round unanimous decision over Joseph Parker at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. His most recent victory, a comeback knockout of Luis Ortiz in March, was also his most impressive.
