'Wake up Punchy!' Trump hits back at Robert De Niro

Trump hits back at ‘Punchy‘ De Niro

At Sunday's Tony Awards, Robert De Niro was tasked with introducing Bruce Springsteen's performance of "My Hometown", but he used his moment on stage to make a quick political statement.

"I wanna say, 'F-k Trump, '" the Oscar victor exclaimed while many audience members at New York's Radio City Music Hall stood up and applauded. "I watched him last night and truly believe he may be 'punch-drunk, '" Trump said in the tweet.

Dems lack heir apparent this time MORE is hitting back at Robert De Niro, nicknaming him "Punchy" and blasting the actor as a "very Low IQ individual".

"I'm going to probably have to move there", De Niro joked on the day of the result. He then added, "It's no longer 'down with Trump.' It's 'f-ck Trump!'" He then pumped both fists, Jake LaMotta-style.

Hours later, Trump addressed the actor in a tweet. Get it? Though "Punchy" falls short on the quality scale as far as Trump insults go.

The CBS television network, which was broadcasting the event live but with a delay of a few seconds, bleeped out De Niro's expletive.

"First, I wanna say, 'F-k Trump, '" De Niro said. On Monday, the actor apologized to Canadians for the "idiotic behavior of my president".

"It's a disgrace. And I apologize to Justin Trudeau and the other people at the G7".

Trump was on his way to Singapore to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as the Broadway awards show was taking place.

Granted, we don't want that remark to sound too disparaging towards De Niro because we all know that he's an acting icon.
