"Robert De Niro, a very Low IQ individual, has received to [sic] many shots to the head by real boxers in movies", Trump tweeted on Tuesday. He likely spent some time after his meeting with Kim catching up on the news about him back in the United States.
De Niro hit out at the USA president as he introduced a performance by Bruce Springsteen. "I watched him last night and truly believe he may be 'punch-drunk'".
Something that is objectively amusing: former De Niro fans destroying their memorabilia as a form of protest. However his message still received a standing ovation.
How no one has looped that into one of those 10-hour videos of him just saying "Fuck Trump" over and over is beyond me.
While Trump didn't approve of De Niro's words, the audience sure did.
De Niro was introducing Bruce Springsteen, who is starring in a Broadway production of his own, which has sold out tickets for months. Of course, this user is referring to former FBI Director Robert Mueller and the Special Counsel investigation on Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and any Russian interference.
A day later, De Niro apologized - not to Trump but on America's behalf to Justin Trudeau, whom Trump insulted as "very dishonest & weak" after the Canadian prime minister threw shade on the president's trade policies. (Pictured at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival).
"It's a disgrace", the actor said.
The CBS television network, which was broadcasting the event live but with a delay of a few seconds, bleeped out De Niro's expletive. In January of this year, the actor called Trump a "f**king idiot" in a profanity-laced rant. "Wake up Punchy!" Mr Trump added on Twitter.
'Wake up Punchy!' Trump hits back at Robert De Niro
Trump was on his way to Singapore to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as the Broadway awards show was taking place. Granted, we don't want that remark to sound too disparaging towards De Niro because we all know that he's an acting icon.
