British schoolchildren hurt in Germany bus crash

Nine British teenagers were injured after a 90-year-old man lost control of his vehicle and crashed head on into their double-decker bus in Germany.

According to reports the driver of the auto lost control before the crash and has been airlifted to hospital. The teenagers suffered minor injuries.

The Audi can be seen in a bad state with debris scattered across the road.

Images of the crash released by the service showed damage to the front left side of the bus and extensive damage to the front of the auto.

Firefighters used hydraulic equipment to rescue the elderly driver of the Audi, Black Forest-based newspaper Schwarzwälder Bote reports.

Emergency services attended the scene in the south-western town of Voehrenbach at around 9.15, local time, Monday morning.

The bus they were travelling in smashed into a auto in the Black Forest region of Germany.

Police say it is not yet clear what caused the man to veer into oncoming traffic.

Accident investigators have launched a probe into what cased the incident.
