Next BMW 2 Series: coupe stays RWD; other models FWD; Cabrio axed
In terms of the design, this a stunning production-ready interpretation of the 8 Series concept auto revealed past year.
The next-gen 8-Series is closely linked to make its debut later this year and it is going to be the ultimate luxury vehicle from BMW.
BMW 8 Series 2019 is created on a modular platform CLAR. There's an nearly completely flat underbody with active air control including air shutters behind the double-kidney grille.
The all-new 8 Series Coupe represents a revival of the '90s era E31 8 Series nameplate. Once the phone is inside and placed in either the wireless charging tray or a separate smartphone tray, the 8 Series can be started. Twenty-inch M light alloy wheels finish off the look. Its LED headlights are the slimmest of any BMW model to date. The front seats also feature a "semi-electric" fold function to make it easier for rear occupants to get in and out of the coupe. While an even more sporty M package is expected to follow, the initial version of the new coupe will be the BMW M850i xDrive featuring a new version of the marque's 4.4-liter V-8.
V8 petrol engine, eight-speed Steptronic transmission. Shift paddles allow for manual control and there's Launch Control for maximizing take-off performance. While capable of a 0-62mph time of 4.9 seconds, it will also return 46mpg with Carbon dioxide emissions of 160g/km.

BMW promises an enthusiast-oriented driving experience for the M850i. "In addition to Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, this complete package also includes the Steering and Lane Control assistant".
Head-up display is standard, which displays speed, plus speed limits, route guidance and turn instructions, as well as status indicators and any warnings from driver-assistance systems.
As the model will only go on sale in November, BMW did not reveal any indicative pricing so it's hard to confirm where the model will sit in relation to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and S-Class Coupe.
Another nice touch is the BMW Digital Key, which allows you to unlock and start the vehicle with your NFC-equipped smartphone.
