Melania Trump makes surprise visit to border facilities

The first lady's stop at Upbring New Hope Children's Center came the morning after President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting the practice of separating these families.

According to the Daily Mail, the jacket is from Spain-based outfitter Zara and costs upwards of $39. However, she changed before she disembarked the plane in Texas, arriving in a cream-colored military-style jacket, and the same white jeans she had left in.

When asked what message the first lady's jacket meant to send, spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said: "It's a jacket. After today's important visit to Texas, I hope this isn't what the media is going to choose to focus on".

The First Lady wore the jacket while boarding her airplane in Maryland, but emerged wearing another after landing in Texas. "I'm here to learn about your facility", Trump said, informing the people who run the facility that she wants to "ask you how I can help these children be reunited with their families as quickly as possible". The first lady is traveling to Texas to see first hand the condition and treatment that children taken from their families at the border were receiving from the federal government.

The response to Trump's "I really don't care, do u?" jacket was swift.

While there may not be a "hidden message" in her jacket, Trump knew that wearing the outfit would prompt a reaction.

The First Lady first commented on the issue on Sunday. Instead, Trump's mission has been to demonstrate - through her fashion or her disappearance from the public eye - that she refuses to do what is expected of her.

"Grisham said that the first lady had the full backing of her husband".
