Kansas guard Mykhailiuk selected by Los Angeles Lakers in NBA Draft

Lakers reportedly acquire 2nd-round pick from Sixers

With the 25th pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, the Lakers selected MI center Moritz "Moe" Wagner.

It will be hard for Wagner and Mykhailiuk - the draft's 25th and 47th picks, respectively - to carve out consistent minutes early into their rookie seasons, but their coaches and teammates are already looking forward to seeing how they fit in.

The Sixers didn't wait until draft night to start their wheeling and dealing.

Using the No. 39 pick they acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers (will be official after the National Basketball Association moratorium period), the Lakers selected another German, 18-year-old Isaac Bonga. During his final season, Wagner shot 39.4% from the 3-point line on 4.1 attempts per game.

It's safe to say that as many as six of the nine athletes - Wilson, LeVert, Stauskas, Hardaway, Burke and Morris - were strongly expected to be four-year collegiate players out of high school, seeing as how they were all rated outside the top-70 nationally during their prep days. Many people were skeptical of Kyle Kuzma when the Lakers first drafted him past year late in the first round, but those doubts were quickly put to rest. When the Lakers brought the MI center in for one of two workouts earlier this month, the two 2017 draft picks made their feelings known to Rob Pelinka and Earvin "Magic" Johnson.

"They obviously are a flashy franchise, they like to play fast", Wagner said. "They love to play fast".

For the Lakers, Thursday's draft had a very procedural feel.

If George does re-sign with the Thunder, it may put a significant dent in the Lakers' quest to sign James.

Leonard wants to be traded to Los Angeles, preferably to the Lakers, sources have told ESPN, leaving Pelinka and team president Magic Johnson in an enviable position of being a desired location for stars. He also broke a 27-year-old team record when he made 115 3-pointers his senior year.

The Lakers also have the Nos.

The Lakers' own pick, No. 10 overall, belonged to Philadelphia as part of the Steve Nash trade in 2012.

The Lakers worked out 125 players over the past few months.
