Cruz challenged Kimmel to the game after Kimmel blamed the Houston Rockets playoff loss on the senator.

In case you had a bet going, and you nearly certainly didn't, it's finally been settled: Ted Cruz would beat Jimmy Kimmel in a game of basketball. "And so I think that this pseudo conflict between Jimmy Kimmel and Ted Cruz is a sort of a fun way, really, in my eyes, of bringing attention to the plight of some of these children and so for that reason I'm thrilled about this happening", said Dr. Dan Penny, chief of Pediatric Cardiology at Texas Children's Hospital.

On Saturday, the Texas Republican took on Jimmy Kimmel, host of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!,' in a game of one-on-one at The Blobfish Basketball Classic in Houston.

Though the match was supposed to end at 15 points, they agreed to call it quits early during the tiring two-hour one-on-one game at Texas Southern University. The loser gives $5k to the (non-political) charity of the winner's choice, ' Cruz tweeted on May 30.

Clips from the game are scheduled to air on Kimmel's show Monday night.

Generation One's mission is to be a catalyst for systemic change in the education system, by creating an equitable educational landscape across the city.

The Texas senator met with former Duke phenom and Cruz-lookalike, Grayson Allen, before the game for a few tips. While Kimmel has the height advantage, Cruz might have the skill advantage. You talk a good game. Kimmel's jokes have also been razor sharp.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) now has the right to tell late night host Jimmy Kimmel "in your face". "If there's anyone you want to have a beef with, it's Ted Cruz". He endorsed Donald Trump for president.
