Jaguar E-Pace adds 'self learning' Smart Settings and 200PS petrol engine

Jaguar E PACE Gets Adaptive Suspension And Ingenium Petrol Engine

Smart Settings debuted on the all-electric I-Pace and recognises the approaching driver, based on both a key fob and smartphone Bluetooth signal.

Jaguar E-Pace has been given a number of new connectivity and comfort features as well as a new powertrain.

Among the new features is the Smart Settings artificial intelligence system, which recently debuted on the I-Pace electric vehicle.

For example, the auto learns that on a cold day, it should pre-heat the steering wheel or play a given song on a specific day of the week.

But the British luxury manufacturer isn't sitting on its laurels with the E-Pace as it's already enhancing the popular luxury crossover by broadening its range of engines and adding adaptive suspension and AI tech to the menu.

The Predictive Call List feature learns patterns of phone use to suggest calling certain people in your phonebook at a certain time.

This new option offers improved handling response, body control and ride using continuously variable damper technology with a triple-tube design and externally mounted hydraulic valves.

Smart Settings is offered as part of Jaguar's Connect Pro Pack, which also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot and satellite navigation.

It monitors vehicle movements every two milliseconds and calculates the required damping force every 10 milliseconds, to respond instantly to the driver's inputs and road surface changes. Rough surfaces and off road conditions are sensed immediately and the damping adapts accordingly. Fuel economy is claimed to be 34.4mpg, while Carbon dioxide is a claimed 186g/km - higher, currently, than the higher-powered variants of the E-Pace, but these will rise once the new WLTP testing system comes into force.

Alongside the new engine, Jaguar's introducing clever self-learning technology dubbed Smart Settings. All the new engines from the Coventry-based carmaker now comes equipped with particulate filters to achieve a higher standard of emission control.

Another addition to the E-Pace range is adaptive suspension. The highly efficient filters are neatly integrated to the after-treatment system and trap ultrafine particulates as the exhaust gases pass through.
