Xbox boss Phil Spencer promised a huge showcase this year and he delivered on that promise ten-fold!

If we were to simply hazard a guess, we're probably not going to hear about what's next for Xbox until E3 2020.

Watch the announcement trailer below. After Halo 5: Forge brought the game's map-building tools to keyboard and mouse users, an entire port is a logical next step.

What else can we glean from the reveal trailer? Because of that, there was a focus on their premium subscription service Xbox Game Pass and which titles have been added to the growing library. Beyond new games, though, Microsoft announced the acquisition of four game development studios as well as the opening of a new fifth internal studio. The Xbox has a beachhead in the marketplace and it's probably profitable, but Sony has a dead lock on roughly 70 percent of the console market right now and that gap is only getting wider.

It's no secret that the American console family has always struggled to make a mark in Japan, with native developers seemingly treating the brand with a mix of confusion and indifference. Note the plurality here, which could mean a new generation with its own mid-gen refresh (for example another Xbox One with beefier specs and its own Xbox One X with even beefier capabilities). Aged developer From Software, famous in recent years for its work on the Souls series, announced Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. That seems like a stretch, but you never know with this insane games industry of ours. Ninja Theory, Compulsion Games, Playground Games, and Undead Labs are now Microsoft studios and therefore future games from them will be exclusive to Xbox. It bodes well not just for the sheer volume of content available to Xbox players, but to the diversity of that content.

When we revealed the Xbox Game Pass additions for June, there were only six titles mentioned. Halo Infinite is the next chapter of the legendary franchise that is developed by 343 Industries and created with its new Slipspace Engine. Microsoft is all about planning for the future and it's doing so in a way that Ubisoft and EA are both keen at tapping: streaming games.
