Courtney Hadwin gets Golden Buzzer from Howie on America’s Got Talent 2018

Why Courtney Hadwin auditioned for America's Got Talent and when she'll be on again

The latest Golden Buzzer was given out tonight on America's Got Talent!

The 13-year-old aspiring singer bashfully admitted that she was "a little bit nervous" as judge Mel B asked her how she was feeling, and she giggled awkwardly when asked questions about her favorite subjects in school.

Before pressing the button, Howie raved about how Courtney's skills are "out of this era" before calling her the next Janis Joplin.

With Hadwin headed straight through to the live shows, she's one step closer to that million-dollar prize.

Courtney, 13, is from Hartlepool and her audition for America's Got Talent was seen on the show this week. "And then you sing, and you're like a lion", Cowell marveled.

However Courtney's already been making quite a name for herself with her wonderful voice, performing at local events and keeping fans up to date with her latest news on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Hadwin openly wept with joy as the golden confetti rained down from the rafters, and was embraced in a big hug by her proud father, who had been watching his daughter perform from the wings of the stage.

Each judge gets to press the golden buzzer only once per series for acts they think deserve to go straight to the quarter finals, bypassing the next rounds of auditions. Comparing Hadwin to a young Joplin, Mandel recalled the story of how legendary music producer Clive Davis discovered Joplin and immediately signed her to his label. "You're like this shy little thing when you first came out. I've never seen anything like that".

Courtney competed in The Voice Kids UK previous year but missed out on the top prize.

She tweeted her thanks Tuesday night.
