A special entertainment task force is reviewing a sexual assault allegation against Sylvester Stallone, prosecutors in Los Angeles County have confirmed.
Greg Risling, spokesman for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, did not give any further details but said the case was presented by police in Santa Monica, California.
Reporting on this incident started in 2016, when a woman claimed she would file a report with police about an incident that took place between her and Stallone in the 1990s.
The spokesman declined to provide further information about the referral, but Stallone late previous year faced an allegation that he raped a woman in the 1990s.
A spokesperson for Stallone did not immediately comment.
The allegation against the star comes in the wake of the #MeToo movement that has focused attention on sexual harassment in Hollywood and beyond.
A woman accused Stallone of raping her in the 1990s in a police report she filed last December, according to Reuters. The alleged victim filed a police report in May.
The attorney said at the time that he planned to submit a claim against the woman for filing a false police report. That assault was alleged to have occurred at a time that would be beyond the statute of limitations.
Rebel Wilson damages slashed on appeal
She took to social media on Wednesday night to say regardless of the outcome she had "already won the case". Wilson is overseas at the moment, so she has yet to comment on today's decision.
