It will go into production in a limited run of 210 cars.
"With enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language, Aston Martin has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes".
Its design has changed little from the concept auto shown at the Geneva Motor Show 2017, with the large and aggressive front grille, reminiscent of the extreme track-only Vantage AMR Pro and the daytime running lights look to be inspired by recent Zagato models. Despite the changes, the Rapide AMR shares the same 0-100 km/h time as the 560 PS-rated Rapide S at 4.4 seconds, but has a slightly higher top speed of 330 km/h (versus 327 km/h).
The suspension retains the three-stage adaptive dampers of the Rapide S, but with extensively revised spring and damping rates, and a 10mm lower ride. Aerodynamic components like the splitter, sills, rear diffuser, ventilated bonnet and boot lid lip spoiler are all made of carbon-fibre. This is also the first Rapide with carbon ceramic brakes - 400mm at the front with six-piston calipers and 360mm at the rear with four pistons each - and the first Aston Martin of any kind with 21 inch wheels, which necessitated special Michelin Super Sport tyres, developed specifically for this vehicle. 21-inch wheels - standard or optionally forged - are the first ever fitted to an Aston Martin, the circular DRLs evoke the recent Zagato cars and the front grille is large than ever. Finally the Signature model makes a nod to Aston Martin Racing's colour scheme, by combining the accents, body stripe and brake calipers - all in lime - with a Stirling Green paint finish. The rear discs measure 360mm and have four-piston calipers.
IMAGE Aston Martin
There is a choice of thee different design schemes - Standard, Silhouette and Signature.
The Silhouette does without the lime, instead getting a full-length stripe available in either grey or white. According to the company, "this draws the closest visual link to the Aston Martin Racing team and the liveries of its race cars".
Inside the auto, the chosen exterior scheme is reflected on the inside with either AMR Lime or Galena Silver wearing and stitching.
The full-length centre console comes in carbon fibre, seats are trimmed in Alcantara and each vehicle will come with a limited-edition AMR inspection plaque. Every example features AMR logos stitched into the front perches, a limited-edition AMR inspection plaque and AMR branding on the carbon sill plates. Pay a bit more and you can even get a One-77 style steering wheel. Despite the extensive use of the lightweight material, Aston Martin states the official kerb weight at 1,990kg - identical to that of the Rapide S. Do take note that these prices are before any customisation work by Aston Martin's in-house Q division. The auto will be available worldwide with the exception of China and Russian Federation, and customer deliveries are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2018.
