Arachnophobia remake in the works, James Wan to produce

The Conjuring director James Wan is in the early stages of producing a remake of 1990's Arachnophobia which starred John Goodman

Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and James Wan's Atomic Monster will be joining hands to produce the reboot of the horror-comedy Arachnophobia.

The film, which was unveiled on Monday, is at the early stages with no director, actors, or writers attached. And it would appear that Wan himself will not be directing either. Marshall is also returning to the project as an Executive Producer.

The original was helmed by Frank Marshall in his directorial debut, and starred Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, Harley Jane Kozak, and Julian Sands. The film was about a newly discovered Venezuelan spider that made it back to the United States via a casket and caused havoc in a small town after it began producing a new species of deadly drone spiders that began killing the town residents. Just film a bunch of spiders crawling out of common places in people' homes and you have a movie scary enough to give many people heart attacks. I believe he just recently finished shooting Shazam and he previously had some great success in the horror genre with Annabelle: Creation.

Are you excited about this remake? James Wan, now finalizing upcoming family tentpole "Aquaman", heads up the producer's committee on the film. Because ghosts and the things we don't know are apparently scarier than the realities we face every day. Do you have a director that you'd like to see helm this remake?
