‘Aeon Flux’ Live-Action Reboot In Development At MTV
Reboots are definitely in and MTV are looking to bring back Aeon Flux, although this time it will be live-action TV.
What do you think about the upcoming Aeon Flux return? A year later, in 1992, Aeon Flux circled back around for five short-form episodes. The live-action Aeon Flux takes place in a futuristic dystopian state and centers around the titular acrobatic assassin Aeon Flux, who partners with a rag-tag crew of biohacking scoundrels in efforts to save humanity. The show was created by animator Peter Chung, and is set in the year 7698, in the aftermath of a global environmental crisis that wiped out almost the entire planet, except for two border cities in what was previously referred to as Eastern Europe.
Aeon Flux is only one of the many MTV properties that the cable network plans to mine from its archives.
Jeff Davis, the showrunner of MTV's Teen Wolf, is attached to write the series' script and will executive produce alongside Gale Anne Hurd. In 1995, a season of ten half-hour episodes aired as a stand-alone series. This will be the first time Aeon Flux will be in live-action on the small screen.
In 2005, Paramount Pictures, Lakeshore Entertainment, and Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures banner teamed for an Aeon Flux feature film. Denise Poirier voiced Aeon Flux with John Rafter Lee voicing Goodchild, roles which were portrayed by Charlize Theron and Martin Csokas in the 2005 live-action thriller. However, the film was a forgettable affair that bombed at the box office (it earened $52.3 million worldwide, against a $62 million budget, ) and was excoriated by critics, notably creator Peter Chung, who called the film "a travesty".
Speaking of live-action, it turns out that Aeon Flux is going to be revived for a live-action TV series! The first few seasons of Teen Wolf were actually quite good, and set up the supernatural series to be this generation's answer to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
