RTÉ has retained a Tuesday slot, but TV3 will also be showing a live game that night due to a new schedule.
The programme is now available to pre-order, along with plenty of other Champions League final themed goods. Eir had the rights for Europa League matches.
The matches (on 16 and 26th May 2018) will also be available for free to watch in full 4K UltraHD (UHD) video streaming quality and BT Sport subscribers will separately benefit from 360 highlights on the app throughout the game (s). "Real Madrid is absolutely fantastic when they turn it on and they've been playing for the Champions League for the last few months now".
"This success, in conjunction with the rights to broadcast our national team's European and World Cup qualifiers for 2020 & 2022, guarantees top class football on RTÉ platforms for the seasons ahead".
If Virgin does opt to stream some matches exclusively online it will represent a further move towards such a system in football, with Facebook and Amazon both already having made tentative - but so far unsuccessful - moves towards the Premier League market.
A spokesperson for Virgin told the Irish Independent: "Virgin Media and TV3 are simply announcing this landmark rights deal - which has just been established - and they will then be providing more information in due course".
RTÉ and TV3 are both able to broadcast Saturday week's final between Liverpool and Real Madrid, but TV3 will have sole coverage of the final going forward.
BT Sport hold the broadcasting rights to the Champions League in the UK.
The agreement with UEFA sees Virgin Media and TV3 win exclusive Irish rights to all Wednesday UEFA Champions League matches, all Thursday UEFA Europa League matches and the Finals of both competitions.
