The Irish government summoned the Israeli AmbassadorZeev Boker of consultation on the recent escalation of violence along the border of the Jewish state from the Gaza strip, which killed 59 people living in the Palestinian enclave.
Ireland also summoned the Israeli ambassador "to express the government and the people's outrage and dismay" at the deaths of dozens of protesters in Gaza, Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said.
Ambassador Boker was informed of Irish demands for an independent worldwide investigation, led by the United Nations, into yesterday's deaths to take place.
