Vermont State Police say they are looking for a murder suspect from the Highgate area.
Discovery of human remains over the weekend lead to a Highgate woman's arrest.
After investigating, police discovered that Ford had been shot and killed several months prior at his girlfriend's parents home in Highgate, where Ford had been living with his girlfriend, state police said in a news release.
Police say the victim has been tentatively identified as 35-year-old Troy Ford, of Highgate. Guttilla and another Highgate resident police believe was involved, Corey Cassani, 28, are now on the lam and considered armed and unsafe.
The remains were brought to the chief medical examiner's office in Burlington for an autopsy.
Police say Guttilla's mother, Carmen Guttilla, was arrested on charges of aiding in the commission of a felony. She pleaded not guilty Monday afternoon. The duo's vehicle, a 2013 red, four-door Chevrolet Spark with the Vermont license plate FHN394, was located Monday afternoon in Swanton.
Erika Guttilla and Cassani were not found at that time.
The murder allegedly took place in the Charles Circle home, and cops believe Carmen Guttilla, 60, and Cassani "had involvement in this case". Vermont State Police are being aided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals Service in locating and apprehending both. They are considered armed and unsafe.
Erika Guttilla is a white female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, with green eyes and blonde hair. Anyone with relevant information on their whereabouts is advised to call Vermont State Police at 802-524-5993.
