NCIS: New Orleans showrunner is out after harassment allegations

Brad Kern will no longer serve as executive producer or oversee the popular series although he will stay on in a consultant capacity

EW has confirmed that Brad Kern has been demoted to a consultant with no producer title.

Kern was accused of sexual harassment and discrimination towards a girl and of utilizing racially insensitive remarks within the office, Selection reported in December.

He is also allegedly mocked African-Americans and removed an actress from the show because he found her 'unf**kble, ' sources say. There had been no new official complaints filed against him since.

"We have been conscious of those allegations after they passed off in 2016, and took them very severely", CBS stated in a press release in December. "Both complaints were acted upon immediately with investigations and subsequent disciplinary action. Whereas we weren't capable of corroborate all the allegations, we took this motion to deal with habits and administration fashion, and have obtained no additional complaints since this was carried out".

The move comes months after news broke that Kern had twice been investigated following multiple complaints about workplace hostility. Executive producer Chris Silber will be taking over as showrunner.

Despite the claims against him, Kern continued working on the show.

"It's gratifying to hear that (Kern) will no longer be a showrunner at 'NCIS: NOLA", an industry veteran told Salon. 'The writers, cast, and crew deserve better'.

According to Salon, citing an unnamed source within CBS, embattled showrunner Brad Kern - who has been the reported subject of two investigations by CBS TV Studios for alleged misconduct contributing to a hostile work environment - will not return in that role for Season 5.

Kern's previous credits include Charmed, Beauty and the Beast and New York Undercover.
