Mother and 7-year-old son dead in suicide jump from Manhattan hotel

A hotel employee told Fox News that the woman and child checked into the hotel Thursday night, and jumped from the 25th floor penthouse, from a window at the rear of the building.

A 46-year-old woman jumped off a building with a young boy, aged 7, in Midtown Manhattan on the morning of May 18, killing them both.

Authorities are working to determine the relationship between the woman and child.

The incident occurred Friday at the Gotham Hotel located in Midtown Manhattan.

FOX 5 NY reported the woman and child jumped to their deaths.

The woman and child landed on a second-floor balcony at the location and were pronounced dead the scene, police said.

It was not immediately clear how many stories they fell.

A medical examiner has been called to the scene. A police investigation is underway.

The Gotham Hotel is located on 46th street, about four blocks from Grand Central Terminal, and has 67 rooms over 25 floors. Check back for updates.
