Justify sets off for Baltimore ahead of Preakness Stakes

Triple Crown hopeful Justify will start from Post 7 as a prohibitive favorite in the 143 Preakness Stakes on Saturday.

Typically, the best post positions tend to be in the middle. Among them will be some familiar faces - Good Magic, Bravazo, and Lone Sailor will all look to improve upon their finishes at Churchill Downs.

Good Magic was a game second-place finisher to Justify at the Kentucky Derby. You can follow Preakness Prep and some of the days earlier races on NBC Sports starting at 2:30 p.m., with coverage switching over to NBC at 5 p.m.

Kentucky Derby winner Justify draws 7th post for Preakness

Justify is the 1-2 morning-line favorite in an eight-horse field at the Preakness coming off his impressive win in the Kentucky Derby. Exaggerator finished second in the Kentucky Derby before winning the 2016 Preakness, and Irish War Cry was second in last year's Belmont.

The race for the Triple Crown is back on this weekend as the fastest horses in the world make their way to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland for the 143rd running of the Preakness Stakes.

Last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile victor had a solid showing in the Kentucky Derby (second) and this son of Curlin appears well suited for the 1 3/16-mile Preakness distance. A furlong is one-eighth of a mile, so the Preakness is 110 yards shorter than the Kentucky Derby.
