Grant Denyer confirms Family Feud is being put on ice

It did good things but we're probably guilty of if anything driving it into the ground a little bit too early: Grant said he and the network had milked the series for all it was worth

Despite being a massive success early on, pulling in almost 600,000 viewers around the country per show, Family Feud's ratings have dipped to around 250,000 per episode, forcing Ten to announce it's axing.

But the former Sunrise weatherman also gave credit to the show for resuscitating his career.

"We have probably given it a bit much, 6 episodes a week and all-star edition".

Denyer said by the time the show comes to an end in its current format, he would have filmed 1200 episodes.

After hearing his remarks, co-host Em Rusciano responded: "Yes!"

But Grant laughed it off, saying he understood why the network wanted to maximise the potential of a show that was doing well.

"It's obviously been a huge success for myself and for Ten for four years, we only thought we'd ever get two years out of it so it was really lovely to stretch it to four", Denyer said.

"Family Feud has been an important part of our schedule for the past four years, but we feel it is time to rest the show", they said in a statement. It reinvigorated that 6pm timeslot.

'So it boosted all the shows after it.

It isn't clear what the show's future holds, but TEN is now casting for another quiz show, seeking Sydney-based teams of two skilled in general knowledge.

Family Feud program has failed to hold a competitive audience share of late, with recent figures showing it trails behind Channel Nine's Hot Seat and Channel Seven's The Chase.

TV Tonight also claimed that Channel Ten is already casting for a new quiz show, an Australian version of BBC's Pointless.
