Google One replaces Google Drive, offers more cloud storage at lower prices

One simple way to get more out of Google - Google Blog

Google will start migrating the customers over the coming months starting with USA customers.

Families paying for extra storage will be able to share that capacity with up to five other family members according to an annoucement by Google. This is just a new name for the associated storage plans for Google's various products and services including Drive, Photos, Gmail, etc, with pricing improvements killing off Dropbox and better storage figures.

Google is revamping its consumer storage plans today by adding a new $2.99/month tier for 200 GB of storage and dropping the price of its 2 TB plan from $19.99/month to $9.99/month (and dropping the $9.99/month 1 TB plan). Existing Google Drive customers with 1TB plans will be automatically upgraded to the 2TB plan for free. Users can reach out to Google via phone, email or online chat for assistant.

This will be the first time live support is coming to Google for users who may not have a G Suite business account. And we'll be adding more benefits over time.

People who use a lot of storage tend to use a lot of other Google products, too. The way you use Drive to store and share files doesn't change. "We are looking with this plan to accommodate that", he said.

Of course, Google One comes with 15GB of free storage space. The new plans offer a wider variety of storage options at an lower pricing. In case you needed any more direct confirmation, I think this is it. Keep an eye out for when Google One becomes available in your country.

Apart from the wider storage plans, Google one offers some perks including "one-tap" access to customer support for Google services and products.

The base package for Google Drive (100GB for $1.99 per month) is sticking around and will be the entry level option for anyone trying to buy into some cloud space, but a new $2.99/200GB tier will be available. Instead, it feels like the beginning of a new, more ambitious offering that could be expanded to include other services over time. Despite its name, Google One is now only one of many subscription services the company offers, after all. And thanks to Google Now, you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a dependable and secure cloud storage service.
