'Deadpool' creators cut controversial post-credits scene

"Our last moment was Deadpool saying "Maximum effort!" as he goes in to throttle the baby". "That's what was supposed to happen".

"He's got the crib and he's standing in the German nursery and he's leaning over the crib to do it and there was kind of this, "ohhhh".

While that might not have connected with audiences who saw early cuts of the film, it's not even the strangest version of the scene. Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing a new incarnation of the story, with the writers confirming their slight tweak to the original to embrace a darker, R-rated approach.

Tomorrow's blockbuster sequel marks something of a new beginning for DP, too, given he's about to share the screen with such big-name heroes like Domino, Cable, Bedlam, and Shatterstar - not to mention all those characters from the first Deadpool movie.

"Fantastic Four" and "Deadpool" are still part of the Fox family - for now - while Evans is currently busy in Marvel Studios' MCU as Captain America.

Wernick: There were different codas kicked around. Well, the writers explained they had "more X-Force interviews" with "bizarre, random people" in mind for the end credits. "One was Chris Evans as Human Torch", Wernick told Uproxx when asked about post-credits scenes that didn't make the final cut of Deadpool 2.

I think [Ryan Reynolds] makes a really good point, and yet I think the challenge will be maybe to do a Deadpool movie where we don't strip away everything from the character.

Two weeks ago, lead star Ryan Reynolds played down the chances of Deadpool 3 falling into place soon after the release of Drew Goddard's gestating X-Force movie.

Looking further ahead, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has discussed some of the characters he'd like to see starring alongside the Merc with a Mouth in the future.

For anyone who somehow grew up without playing the board game Clue, let me get you up to speed. "Let's get Bridge, let's get Hammer, let's get Grizzly". And we've got drafts since 2009 in our computer all the way through to 2018. Come the fall, I think he'll turn his attention fulltime to X-Force and so that's next up in the series. Now, the budgets are insane.
