Body of Woman Pulled From Red River Identified

Family of April Carpenter have confirmed her body was pulled from the Red River Wednesday afternoon

A group of relatives, friends and supporters identified April Carpenter, 23, as the woman whose body was found in the Red River on Wednesday.

Her family members say they believe April Carpenter's death is suspicious because she loved life and her family.

This was not the way the Carpenter family wanted to find her.

Family said Carpenter had last been seen at the Health Sciences Centre around 8 p.m. on April 26.

"Police describe Carpenter as Indigenous, 5'7" tall, 130 pounds, with light brown, shoulder-length hair and noticeable dimples.

Her mother reported her missing the following day, said Dubery.

Dubery is adamant Carpenter would not have harmed herself.

"April had goals and visions and dreams", he said. "She was working to finish her education to become a social worker".

"She wanted to be a social worker", she said. They want to speak with anyone who may have had contact with April Carpenter in the time she was reported missing.

Police said the investigation into Carpenter's death is ongoing and ask anyone who had contact with her the night she went missing, or afterward, to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477. And they want people to know what kind of person Carpenter was. "This is very sad for everybody", he said.
