Tax deadline pushed to April 17th to honor federal holiday

Like it or not, taxes are due Tuesday. Here's what some restaurants and other retailers are offering on or around April 17th. Please note that some local retailers do not participate in these deals, so it's always best to ask while you shop.

Whatever else comes your way on April 17, it's still Taco Tuesday. The deal applies to in-cafe dining only.

Chili's - The restaurant is serving a Cherry Blossom Margarita for $5 for the month of April.

Hardees - Free sausage biscuit.

Applebee's - Get a Dollarita for just $1 (10-oz. house margarita) - available through April 30.

But you still need to pay up now to show good faith.

Planet Fitness - Get a free hydromassage from now to April 21. Some of the offers require a coupon or have time restrictions.

Bruegger's Bagels says treat the office with 20 percent off your catering order through April 17, or be the break room hero with a Bagel Bundle (any 13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese) for $10.40 at participating bakeries. It's only valid for Toasty Point loyalty members.

Schlotzsky's- FREE small Original Sandwich with purchase of chips and 32-oz. drink on April 17. The deal is not valid through third-party delivery.

Sonic Drive-in - Get 50% off cheeseburgers all day on April 17. You're limited to five per customer. Plus, they offer 50% off shakes, floats and ice cream slushes after 8 p.m. every night through the end of summer.

Staples - Free shredding services at Staples.

Cinnabon: You probably shouldn't eat all your tax-related feelings, so two free Cinnabon Bites is just about the right portion. On the company's Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, you can grab a coupon that will get you the freebie. Hey, you've already paid your taxes - you've earned it! We can get behind that.

This year, April 16 is Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in Washington, D.C. Emancipation Day is a holiday set aside to commemorate the 1862 signing of the Emancipation Act by President Abraham Lincoln.
