A winter weather advisory was issued for McHenry, Lake and Boone counties Monday morning as snow showers moved out of Wisconsin and across the northeast corner of IL, slowing the morning commute.
A few snow showers linger into Monday night. However, as the ground cools off overnight, some slick spots will certainly be possible.
Wind gusts as high as 60 miles an hour were forecast Monday. A wind advisory is in effect until 8 PM for Yancey and Mitchell Counties for gusts up to 50 miles per hour above 3500 ft. Tonight as the colder air ushers in, snow showers will be possible. "South of Highway 20, accumulations will be a Trace to 2".
The rest of the week looks dry and seasonably warm, with the warmest day on Wednesday with highs inching toward the low 80s. Rain which may be heavy at times and possibly a few storms. Between showers clouds will stay mostly cloudy, preventing afternoon warmth - highs will only reach 42 degrees.
