Karnataka assembly elections: Congress full list to be out today

Karnataka Assembly Election 2018

Twenty seats, including Siddaramaiah's second seat Badami, were discussed in detail by the CEC.

The Congress on Sunday released the first list of candidates for upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018. As expected, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who has been contesting from the Varuna constituency since 2008, will contest from Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysuru this elections. He is most likely to be facing BS Yeddyurappa's son BY Vijayendra this election.

In Melukote, Congress is likely to back Swaraj India candidate Darshan Puttanaiah as TNM had reported earlier. Parameshwara will contest from Korategere in Tumakuru district from where he lost in the last assembly poll. In 2013 Legislative Assembly election he had contested from Varuna Constituency. Later he joined the Congress. Children of PWD minister H C Mahadevappa, home minister Ramalingareddy and Kolar MP K H Muniyappa will also contest the election. R Roshan Baig has been fielded from Shivajinagar assembly seat, Fairoz N Sait from Belgaum Uttar, U.T. Abdul Khader from Mangalore, Dr Rafeeq Ahmed S. from Tumkur City, Tanveer Sait from Narasimharaja and B.A.Mohiuddin Bava from Mangalore City North.

"Will see whom the people will elect", he had said. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also contested that "some leaders" whom he was recommending were simply part of his larger strategy to "mobilise resources" to ensure the party's victory in Hyderabad-Karnataka region, implying the induction of Mr Ashok Kheny into the party, and recommending his candidature for Bidar (South) constituency. The list was announced after a Central Election Committee meeting was held at the party headquarters in the national capital.
