Jets to open 2018 season on Monday Night Football vs. Lions
Gang Green's 2018 campaign will begin September 10 in Detroit against the Lions on "Monday Night Football", The Post has learned.
Gang Green will face the Lions on the road for a September 10 opener in Detroit, according to a source. The teams combined for a 16-18 record last season and don't provide any sort of rivalry, which makes it an odd choice to open up the season with.
Todd Bowles and his Jets will open the new campaign on Monday Night Football.
.This will be the Jets' first Monday night game since 2016 when they were drubbed 41-10 by the Indianapolis Colts.
The Lions have had at least one MNF contest on their schedule going back to 2011, including three seasons with multiple MNF games (2012, '15, '17).
The only prime-time game the Lions hosted past year was on a Sunday night against Pittsburgh in Week 8.
However, since the Jets hold the No. 3 overall draft pick, they should enter the year with a shiny new addition - one very well could be a high-profile quarterback. New Lions head coach Matt Patricia is quite familiar with the Jets to a certain degree, having been a part of the New England Patriots' coaching staff for the 14 years prior to arriving in Detroit.
