Beyoncé and JAY-Z have recently been vocal about the ups and downs of their relationship, seemingly addressing marital troubles and the rapper's cheating allegations on their latest albums, Lemonade and 4:44. The esteemed rapper appeared on David Letterman's new Netflix talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction (to be released April 6) and opened up about political activism, his childhood and, of course, his family.

"I did something that I had no business doing, and I regret it, and since then I have tried to acknowledge that mistake and be a better person".

"But I think the most important thing I got is that everything is connected".

"That's my brother", JAY-Z answers.

"I would go to therapy, and I would talk to people about this situation and they would tell me various things to just get me out of the office, but I never talked to a person who had had been in that situation", he added. At the time, the pain that I caused myself was the fear that I had blown up my family ... But I'd never talked to a person who had been in that situation.

Letterman then said to his guest, cautiously: "And I'm wondering if this rings a bell with you".

Jay-Z began by saying that a lot of men "don't have emotional cues" from childhood to help them deal with relationships as adults.

"He knows he crossed the line", Jay said.

"Yeah", JAY-Z replied. "Be a man, stand-up, don't cry".

Jay-Z - who first sparked speculation that he had cheated on his wife, Beyonce, in 2014 when video footage surfaced of him getting into a verbal altercation with sister-in-law Solange Knowles - responded: "I want to have the emotional tools that it takes to keep my family together". "It's my brother. We don't come from the same mom and dad, but you know, I watched Kanye from without an album". "We love each other, so we really put in the work for years".

JAY-Z and Beyonce are parents to their three children daughter Blue Ivy, 6, and 9-month-old twins Rumi and Sir.

The GRAMMY victor continued: "He's bringing out an ugly side of America that we wanted to believe was gone". It's not like, 'Oh, did you hear what happened today?' I mean, is he a racist?

"I was anxious about being a good father because. there weren't very many examples for us growing up of that".
