Basketball Hall of Famer Hal Greer has expired, the NBA announced.
USA Today mentioned that Greer passed away after a "brief illness," but did not expand further than that, adding that he died on Saturday night in Arizona. "I had the wonderful opportunity to visit with him and his family back in February of 2012 when we closed the doors on the Veterans Memorial Field House. My thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones".

"Hal was a fantastic ambassador for Marshall and a great basketball player", Marshall men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said.
Hello, my name is John Witiw, and you may remember me as a writer for Viral Pirate, Frontrunner Magazine, or even NTD Television, but now I'm here.

He was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996 and was the first player to have his number (#15) retired by the 76ers organization in 1976.

He was also the first Sixers player to be honored with a sculpture on the team's Legends Walk at its training complex previous year.
In recognition of Hal Greer's impact on the Philadelphia 76ers franchise, the team will pay tribute to him during Monday night's game against the Miami Heat, the second game in their ongoing first-round playoff series.
