English Premier League match report Crystal Palace v Liverpool 31 March 2018

Mane levelled four minutes after the break and, despite having one of his quieter games of an incredible debut season at Liverpool, Salah still proved the match victor.

Luka Milivojevic scored a penalty 13 minutes into the game to put the hosts ahead after Liverpool keeper Loris Karius took out Wilfried Zaha in the box.

Why wasn't Mane sent off? He penalised Mane for deliberate handball but, somehow, didn't deem it worthy of a second yellow card. He hadn't been, so Palace got the free-kick, but that was as far as the punishment went.

But the Liverpool coach resisted the temptation to rest his key men in South London, with Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino all starting in attack. Let's see how we finish the season'. By now Liverpool's possession was almost 75%, but Palace refused to break down and carried the lead into the second half, thwarting multiple attempts by Liverpool to attack the goal.

After all, there's a number of decent youngsters knocking on the door for a spot on the plane this summer, including Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Lewis Cook.

Zaha, an injury doubt before the game, met a long ball with Trent Alexander-Arnold asleep at the back but Karius bailed his teammate out with a commanding stop.

Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain were sent on to provide some energy in the closing period, but Lallana was injured within a few minutes.

Liverpool dominated the opening ten minutes, culminating in a chance for Virgil van Dijk from a corner which was only deflected off-target by team-mate Mane.

The Palace talisman should have scored when he got in behind after just nine minutes, but was denied by a courageous stop from Loris Karius. Easy decision from the referee, bad goalkeeping.

On the hour mark, Palace almost re-took the lead when Christian Benteke made a yard of space for himself inside the box but his powerful shot sailed inches over the target.

"Then I saw it back one time on video and for me it's [still] a clear penalty", Klopp said.

It was then that Mane attempted to impose himself.

Klopp felt Sadio Mane should have been given a penalty instead of a yellow card for simulation in the first half. Another huge miss from Benteke!

Liverpool edged past Crystal Palace in their Premier League clash courtesy of a late Mohamed Salah strike. After a cross from the right was hit back across goal by Andrew Robertson, Salah controlled the ball instantly with his left to elude the scrambling Mamadou Sakho before poking home clinically with his right.
