After the disappointing launch for Lawbreakers, developer Boss Key moved onto the moderately successful 80s-inspired battle royale title Radical Heights. Some of the developer's more recent tweets are responses to Radical Heights players, answering their questions about the game's currency system and cosmetics, so it seems as though there are no hard feelings.
Moreover, since Radical Heights is built on Unreal Engine 4 which is developed by Epic Games, those with significant experience with that technology may have wanted to work at its creator.
Taking Twitter (below) - as spotted by Ars Technica - the Boss Key boss publicly asked Epic to stop trying to hire his team. Former LawBreakers programmer William McCarroll, who now works for Epic, replied to Bleszinski's tweet by saying that it's "presumptuous" to suggest Epic is poaching employees.
As Epic Games former design director, Bleszinski has previously kept professional ties with his ex-colleagues, even going as far as to promote its current Creative Director Darren Sugg on Twitter for those that enjoy Fortnite. While Epic Games did not respond, Bleszinski did follow up to his original post by stating: "There's room at this genre for more than a few games SMH". Of course, it's a dance that's happened before. The fact that Boss Key co-founder Arjan Brussee left Boss Key for Epic Games in December may have also been a factor in some of those departures.
Boss Key lost more than one employee to Epic Games over the past few moths.
Bleszinski said then of Brussee: "He is not only a brilliant person but also a dear friend and I wish him well in his future endeavors". After a brief retirement, the developer returned, founding Boss Key Productions.
