The devices will be sold exclusively through Best Buy and Amazon.com and via the retailer's chain of brick-and-mortar stores. Best Buy will initially sell ToshibaTVs and its own Insignia-branded TVs with Amazon's Fire OS installed beginning this summer, and will eventually include 11 different TV brands. "These Fire Edition smart TVs by Insignia and Toshiba deliver attractive visuals and all the movies and TV shows you love, with an experience that gets better every day with Alexa".
"Amazon and Best Buy have a long history of working together, and today we take our partnership to a new level", Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in a statement.
As part of the partnership, Best Buy will feature the Amazon Fire-powered TVs in its stores and website.
These new smart TVs comes with the Fire TV experience out of the box, which blends streaming options as well as live over-the-air TV to provide a complete entertainment experience. Built-in apps will give you access to popular services including Prime Video (of course), Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and PlayStation Vue (among others). Even as the prices have come down on the large screens, Best Buy has continued to devote a sizable section of their store space to TV gallery-viewing. For the time being, Amazon hasn't revealed any details about pricing. In addition, the TVs will be sold via the Amazon Marketplace with Best Buy as the third-party seller.
Amazon launched its first TV with Fire TV OS a year ago in collaboration with Element, but the new Best Buy partnership will make such products available to a wider audience.
Both Amazon and Best Buy expect they will benefit from the deal.
